Hen Do/Wedding Things
It's used to feel so weird when people would say "it goes so quickly" and "you'll wish you could do it again". My cynicist head was like "pah - nonsense".
Then the day went by and I realised we didn't get a photo together and actually, we were both so busy running around, we barely saw each other; I spent more time with the smelly old groom than the bride. But hey ho. (I'm joking - I love the groom too).
First was the hen do. For that I made a flowery powery 'L plate', Because apparently that is a thing that people do on hen do's.
For the wedding, Soph made her bouquet (and very beautiful it was, too). We ended up getting a bouquet from Marks and Spencers and adding a few bits in from my garden. I made all of the bridesmaids bouquets, using baby's breath and white carnations.
Congratulations to Mr and Mrs Darling!

World Book Day
Long time, no see, Blogger.
I am in a different house, a different town, I went to the other side of the world, then I came back. I took five steps forwards, seven steps back.
I haven't crafted in ages. I haven't had the motivation.
That being said, I've been trying to learn how to write ("learn how to write" is an ambiguous phrase). I'm a zero confidence, kind of girl. I desperately want to be able to write stories, but even the thought of writing makes me feel ill; I write in my head constantly, but putting things on paper is difficult.
Anyway, World Book Day loomed over me last week and I had to work out what to wear. I am constantly FREEZING at work so I decided that my dress would mainly be in my hair.

Sarah Dyer made this in 2009 and I have loved it since then. Mainly because I think those bird illustrations are incredible. You may have noticed that the birds in my previous posts were inspired by this book. Yes, they were indeed. I enjoyed making them so much, first time round, that I loved the excuse to make more. Unfortunately I left it a little too late to make as many as I would have liked, but this is what I got. I hope to add to them.
I moved on to the male and female house sparrows, the woodpecker, the owl and the dove.
I am horrifically untidy when I craft (and so lazy at tidying, my desk still looks like this).
These were the final folks who made it on to my head.
My World Book Day costume didn't make a massive impact (especially considering one of my colleagues dressed as Jane Eyre), but I'm pleased to have these little birdies made. I like them.

scans
HEY. remember like, two weeks ago, when i posted those pictures of my stitching directory? between now and then i have started reading three books, no four actually. i haven't got passed the first twenty pages in three (Catch 22, Perfume and Gil Scott Heron's memoir) that is no reflection of the books. I just can't get passed the beginnings. Although I only started Gil's last night and i know it's going to be amazing. I can't concentrate much, so I am probably going to read it again in a couple of months when my head's a bit more straight. I have read most of The Power of Now, by Eckhart Tolle. A darling friend recommended it. It's good, I like most of it. But I wish it would just fix my life. It's all when and good, knowing how to meditate, but how do I overcome my fears??
Anyway, so I have also gone and bloody scanned those stitching bits. My scanner is so close to being dead it's almost funny. It's almost screaming everytime I try to scan something. My cat used to spend a lot of time sleeping on it and I think at some point they had a fight and the scanner lost, it's now dealing with the injuries. You'll see those in a sec.
So my stitches.
Here we go (again):
The chain stitch had it's own post, like two posts ago, for your reference. I went to scan it and put it on the wrong way round. aha, i found this amusing.
and there you can see my scanner working in it's full glory. check out how it's bringing new dimensions to scanning. you don't really want to see what you're scanning, do ya? you wanna see purple lines. yes i do. thank you kind sir.
i'm going to try and overcome my fears now. thanks, bye.
i just realised it was more like five weeks ago, damn, my concept of time is bad

some stitching directoring and cheese.
uhhhhh, I HAVE A NEW JOB AND IT'S THE WORST.
but i'm moving on with my stitching directory. pretty sloppily.
I'm looking forward to the point where i get to put it together as a book.
And some cheese. Based on the 30 rock scene in which the retort "that's not that much cheese" is said.
I'm gonna turn in to a cheesey badge. and a chair made of cheese. and a table made of cheese. damn, i miss zim. BYE
