World Book Day

Long time, no see, Blogger.

I am in a different house, a different town, I went to the other side of the world, then I came back. I took five steps forwards, seven steps back.

I haven't crafted in ages. I haven't had the motivation.

That being said, I've been trying to learn how to write ("learn how to write" is an ambiguous phrase). I'm a zero confidence, kind of girl. I desperately want to be able to write stories, but even the thought of writing makes me feel ill; I write in my head constantly, but putting things on paper is difficult.

Anyway, World Book Day loomed over me last week and I had to work out what to wear. I am constantly FREEZING at work so I decided that my dress would mainly be in my hair.

Sarah Dyer made this in 2009 and I have loved it since then. Mainly because I think those bird illustrations are incredible. You may have noticed that the birds in my previous posts were inspired by this book. Yes, they were indeed. I enjoyed making them so much, first time round, that I loved the excuse to make more. Unfortunately I left it a little too late to make as many as I would have liked, but this is what I got. I hope to add to them.

Much like my previous dabble with the bird making, I started with the cute little robin.

I moved on to the male and female house sparrows, the woodpecker, the owl and the dove.

I am horrifically untidy when I craft (and so lazy at tidying, my desk still looks like this).

These were the final folks who made it on to my head.

My World Book Day costume didn't make a massive impact (especially considering one of my colleagues dressed as Jane Eyre), but I'm pleased to have these little birdies made. I like them.

Happy World Book Day!
