phone case, oh and a stitching directory i've been planning

Hullo. I made a phone case, because my old phone was such a wreck. poor sod. I've only had this one a week or so. and i've only dropped it once, i think. so that's pretty impressive for me. and now it has a home.

I'm trying to get better at stitching and stitching techniques, so i've been making pieces with only one type of stitch, if i can help it. this is the stem stitch piece. i've got a couple more but i'll show the world them when they're in my stitching directory. it'll be like the yellow pages. for stitching. one for every house. not really. that would be impractical.

a few pieces of embroidery and a cake.

I started this sentence without knowing where it was going to finish.

A cake for a special birthday friend.

This is the piece I made for the Craftivist Collectives #imapiece project, with Save The Children. I couldn't make it to Manchester for the installation, but it looks like Sarah and her pals did a really good job (see here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/craftivist-collective/)

bicycle embroidery

hello,

this is my most recent stitching adventure. god, it's about as close to exercise as I get. except for when it's snowing, when apparently i run around like a mad lout.

anyway, so i made this bicycle. feels like i should probably do a little more with it, but i'm not sure what. any ideas?

something to honor 'The Road' by Cormac McCarthy

Hello internet folk.

Welcome to 2013. I hope yours has been better than mine. Unforunately several of my friends have each experienced a few tragedies since the year began.

But before that, it was December and my lovely friend Sophie's birthday. She's such a bloomin' rock to me.

So i made her this:

The card had a cassette tape on it. man, i miss old school cassette tapes. although i've got to be honest and say that my cassette tapes mostly consisted of the songs recorded from the soundtrack to Sister Act 2 and Spice Girls songs I stole from the radio. I was of the mixed CD generation. Full disclosure. But i like the nostalgia. and the apple is a little brooch. Soph's going to be a kick ass teacher soon. She's going to totally rock it.

And I got my LOVELY MUM this for Christmas:

There are so many things that my mum shared with me, mostly films, that I will appreciate until the end of my days. And the film 'Pollyanna' with Hayley Mills is one of them.

Well if you've somehow found your way here, i belatedly wish you a very happy new year. Please be happy and take care of yourself.

With love.
